I am yet to start teaching but I'm excited about teaching Technology. I must admit although I'm pretty good on a computer and ok on a smart phone, I do not own an Ipad (yet!) and am only just starting to understand the importance of using technology in the classroom. I remember doing computers in high school, way back in the early 90s and being asked to do a little test for the teacher with another student. Myself and my friend sat at a computer each and we were asked to type 'hello' and have a conversation. We were so amazed that we could speak to…

Padlet: A simple tool that can be accessed on computers, iPads, iPhones, etc. This website can provide the class with a 'blank wall' in which ideas can be generated, sorted and discussed in one, easy to view place. I am completing my fourth year in a Bachelor of Education so haven't seen this used in classrooms but I think it could be great! So excited to hear about the technologies that teachers use in their classrooms so hopefully next year goes smoothly!

This is the first year I've taught Information and Software Technology to Year 10. As a result I've become excited at the prospect of introducing coding to our primary school. Decided to pre-order a pair of these robots for use in our primary school. The three levels of programming (object only, object + some code, code only) should make this device useful from Kindergarden to Year 10.
I also believe that devices such as the Raspberry Pi and 3D printers (as mentioned by others) will become more common place in primary schools.

I can't say that I have come across anything in particular lately, but I thought about current television shows that use tech and wondered what might be out there based on that (I was an avid science fiction reader when I was younger, and know that many of the concepts written about in science fiction works have come into being). Instead I found this video showing how the Science adviser for the 2002 movie The Minority Report created a company to make the futuristic user interface from the movie a reality and it's dated 2008. Where are things heading?#cser…

I am always at a loss of where to start when asked to share an idea for educational technology.

I think the best thing to do rather than share an idea or a bit of educational technology is to share a few frameworks for thinking about it.

The first is the SAMR model developed by Ruben Puentedura.  SAMR looks at phases or stages of pedagogy that incorporates technology.

The second is TPACK developed from an earlier model called PCK it allows a discussion or framework on the integrated nature of technological, pedagogical and content knowledge th…
