One idea for a lesson exploring past and present technologies, is to put out photos of different technology items (or the items themselves if you have access). Students work in pairs or groups of 3 to try and answer what it is called and what it was used for. A follow up activity would be for them to match the item to a technology from the present. The students could then discuss how and why it has changed over time. Additionally, they could design a future item to replace the present technology.
