Task 2: Option 4

A simple way to introduce children to bar graphs when remote learning is to get students to write a list of the names of all the students in the class on (wall-safe) masking tape or electrical tape. The students then sort the names based on the length of each name (how many letters in each name). The names are the data points that are being collected, and the numbers of letters in each name are counted and sorted into order. Using the electrical tape, children stack the names of the same lengths onto chart. The end result is a bar chart showing the distribution of the length of names in the class.
