I was interested to discover that, due to the increase in popularity and availability of digital technology, new digital treatments for mental health as well as digital versions of pre-existing interventions have been developed. Some forms of these interventions include modules that allow the individual to personalise their treatment by selecting components that suit their concerns, as well as procedures that use virtual reality (VR) or artificial intelligence to communicate with the user. Digital interventions have even been developed in the form of games!
Overall, the use of digital technology in psychology allows for new ways of assessing and interpreting data, as well as increasing what data can be gathered – VR procedures can track a person’s sensitivity to environments, and smartphones can continuously track things like sleep and movement.
