An activity I would do with young primary students is order a morning routine sequence. I would do this by printing and laminating images of common activities students would do throughout their day. From waking up in the morning to getting ready for bed, the students will have to sort these images in the order that they complete these tasks throughout their day.
Morning ; brush teeth, make bed, tie shoes
Afternoon ; eat lunch, play on the playground
Evening ; put on pyjamas, read a book.
Every student might have a slightly different order, but recognising a logical sequence assists in the development of understanding algorithms.
