Task 3: Option 2
For task 3 Data Representation: Option no.2, I chose a lesson idea focusing on F-2, encouraging students to work as a classroom to decode teachers ‘secret word’. Engaging students, providing support, building upon individual field knowledge, as a team; once they understand the basis of the game, they can then go off and encode and decode each others words. If this activity becomes too easy, students and teachers can manipulate the key by experimenting with different mathematic symbols to encode with. This activity was created to be utilised as a maths activity and can be implemented using different levels of mathematics to challenge and engage a variety of year levels.
