Task 5 – Option 1

Option 1: Think of a lesson idea for “sharing information online safely” or “behaving online appropriately”. Write your idea as a brief description with any links to websites, videos or books that you might use in your lesson. If you are a trainer or leader, you might describe an activity for teachers in a professional development session.

To learn online safety student will learn what is considered appropriate and inappropriate behavior. An activity that represents this is a traffic light activity that teaches students to think before acting online particularly when connecting with different people on social media and internet access. Once students learn this an activity that will allow them to recognise what is safe to be able to learn and be aware for themselves by looking at different scenarios and identifying what traffic light the situation is.

Green – Coast is clear look both ways (You feel safe)

Yellow – Slow down, Be cautios and be prepared to stop (Something about this is making you uncomfortable and you are ready for any inappropriate behaviour

Red – Stop! Too dangerous to proceed (Inappropriate behaviour and this connection needs to end and talk to someone)
