Task 7: Visual Programming
Option 2
When learning about mapping, Bee Bots could be used to create a rich, educational task especially after introducing students to elements of maps such as grid reference system, key and coordinates.
In pairs, students create a map on an A2 piece of paper. Their map must include a key and a compass. They must add a grid reference system to their map (big enough for a Bee Bot to fit in each grid square). Students then create a travel route for their Bee Bot, using the grid references rather than words to describe the different locations the Bee Bot will go to. Students then program their Bee Bot for its travel route.
