The Bee Bots are an exciting and engaging hands-on classroom tool designed specifically for teaching sequencing, estimation, problem-solving. They are easy-to-operate, and come with directional keys which can be used to enter up to 40 commands which send Bee Bot forward, back, left, and right. Pressing the green GO button starts Bee Bot on its way.
Bee Bots can be used to develop conceptual knowledge and understanding in Science by encouraging students to trace each stage of the life cycle of a bird, butterfly or a frog. As students trace over a stage, they can discover new facts at each stop by turning over the picture card for more information. More so, the act of programming Bee Bot helps students solidify the sequence of events or in this case the conceptual understanding of lifecycles .
English: Sequencing Stories
In Language and Literacy students use Bee Bots to travel through stages of a story such as Little Red Riding Hood or Goldilocks. The activity would include drawing key scenes of a story on kinder squares. Then place the images under a transparent grid mat. The students will then need to code the Bee Bots to make its way to the picture tiles representing each scene but in the correct sequential order of events. As the Bee Bot travels from one scene to the next, the students orally narrate the story. Alternatively, by creating a plot for a story, students can create their own short stories and narrate the story to their peers by coding the Bee-Bots to move across tiles from one event to the other.
