Option 2: for online learning
Students are given cut up instructions from a recipe (could be a cake or toasted sandwich etc.) (which are not numbered). They are asked to consider the importance of having instructions in order, what would happen if they did the instructions in a random order?
Then students have to put the instructions in what they think is the correct order, why do they think this order is correct (e.g. obviously you need to preheat the oven before you can cook a cake).
Students proceed to make the recipe in the order they have placed the instructions. As they do this they are encouraged to write down any changes they made while making the recipe due to mistakes etc.
