Task 4: Option 3 – Past and Present

Year: Pre-Primary

Resource: My grandmother’s Toy Box


Prior to reading of the story, show children some pictures of olden toys and technologies, and guess/inform the use of each item.

Introduce more past items/technologies through the story and identify whether the items remain the same or has it changed, or substituted by something else.

After the story there are multiple activities that can be done, such as:

  • categorising pictures of past and present objects into respective group
  • think of an item that represents the 21st century which they will add it to the toy box and explain why.
