For Year 1 students, I will show them some pictures of past and current cameras. The students would be asked to sort the pictures from past to present, and discuss the observable changes of the cameras.
They will also be invited to study the history of photography technology by comparing the types of cameras and photographs of the past and present and describe its evolution. Students will be provided opportunities to take photographs of objects or activities using the iPad’s camera and describe or label their photographs. They could also compare how photos are portrayed or labelled in photo frames, photo albums and social media. This is a suitable website that shows the history of cameras for students: https://kids.kiddle.co/Camera .
A further extension of the activity could be to invite the families (especially grandparents) to bring their past cameras and share their experiences of taking photographs (from special occasions to taking photos daily).
