In a year 1/2 class, I was lucky enough to plan some activities using the beebots. Beebots teach simple coding using directional arrows. Beebots move in 15cm intervals so I developed a number of game boards using 15 bu 15 cm squares. Part of this was using squares of the letters of the alphabet and having students code and decode messages.
