Unit 3

There are many ways that information can be extracted online. Information that is shared about yourself online can allow you to be identified and tracked unknowingly and unwillingly. Images and photos can give people all sorts of information, such as what kind of phone you use, when and where the photo was taken, who you are with and your location, but there are many other ways too. Information through the use of credit cards and online shopping, to restaurant, hotel and event bookings. Even reviews left at restaurants can let people know of your approximate location. Advice pages on Facebook for example can also let strangers into your personal lives. We often think about immediate interaction and gratification without often thinking of the dangers or consequences. This is why it is important to be aware of the risks that come with even the little things we do online.
