
Task 3 – Binary
To help students develop a deep understanding of how binary is a ‘code’ for digital systems, you could design an ‘Escape Room’.
In small groups, students could be given different clues that they need to solve. These clues could involve them having to convert numbers from a base 2 system, use pre-made ‘Binary Alphabet’ chart to decipher words or even having to convert numbers from base 10 to base 2.
This task could even be used to introduce QR codes, as where some clues are hidden perhaps they have to scan the QR code to know where to go next.
