This activity explores sequences that exist in students’ everyday context.
Students select a process or activity which can be performed in the classroom/school. They investigate and record a corresponding sequence in order, and then give these instructions to a partner to reenact. This acts as a trial for students to see if a task can be done in the sequence supplied. If not, they are given a chance to reevaluate and correct any inaccuracies or omissions.
The teacher may then reenact a few tasks for the class.
This could be extended by giving children a collection of Lego bricks, for example, and having them design a model, then creating a sequence using instructions and drawings for another person to replicate.
