Attached is a link which is a useful resource to use in the classroom to help students compare the way the human brain works in comparison to a computer. The resource includes a PowerPoint presentation to assist teachers in teaching the topic, along with other resources such as pre/post quizzes and general lesson plans which can be modified to suit the appropriate year level taught.
Within the PowerPoint presentation, students describe how the brain functions, followed by listing the steps needed for their brain to command their arm to pick up a glass of juice. Based on this question, students are then required to determine how a computer carries out similar functions. This in my opinion, is a good way of engaging students and applying the functions of a computer to a real life context which students can relate to.
