To stimulate thinking about differences/similarities between computers and humans, I would pose the question:
“Which is more reliable; a human or a computer?”
Obviously the context and the way in which students interpret the question would influence their responses. So I would leave the question up to their interpretation and see what they come up with.
Perhaps to begin answering this, students could work collaboratively to come to an understanding of the meaning of ‘reliable.’
This question could relate to literacy and require students to convince me of their answer using persuasive writing. Or perhaps structure the question for a debate, having two groups argue either answer.
A lot could be explored with this question and it would be interesting to see where the students take the ideas.
