Task 3: Option 2


The activity above allows foundation/reception level children to decode and recognise real words by making sounds from various letters.

How it’s done: All students are individually given a tray of cut out letters, they then pick out 1 vowel and 3 consonants in order to decode whether this world is real or ‘silly’. The aim of this task is not to work on vocabulary but to decode letters/symbols to make a sounds and from the sound decoding it into a word.
