The lesson I have developed is about information systems (option 1).
Firstly, prior to watching a video about being safe online, students are required to brainstorm ideas in a small group about being ‘safe online’, and what this looks like. Groups will be required to write down their answers and then discuss them with the class.
After this, the following video would be presented to the class; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MB5VDIebMd8
Then, we would re-visit the initial thoughts and ideas about being safe online and have another discussion with the whole class. To elaborate on this, the class could have small discussions about ‘what’s not safe?’, bullying, harassment and even strangers to strengthen their knowledge. Finally, a worksheet could be provided to students about how to appropriately speak to people whilst online and what to do if you’re approached by someone you don’t know.
