A lesson idea for an upper primary class (year 4-6) would be to integrate the technologies with Health.
Students can look at the following website: https://www.esafety.gov.au/kids/I-want-help-with/things-to-watch-out-for-with-online-friends
And watch an appropriate video such as:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjPpG2e71Ec (for younger students)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ottnH427Fr8 (for older students)
There could then be some classroom discussion about how to respond if they feel like they are being pressured to give personal information. Students could show their understanding in any of the following ways:
– Perform a short skit in front of the class where someone is pressuring them to give personal information but they do the right thing.
– Write down a dot-point list of things the student can do to stay safe online and make sure they don’t give out personal information.
– Draw a comic strip of someone being safe online, annotating what they are doing to be safe.
