Task 2: Option 4
A data collection and interpretation activity that could be used remotely for students is the virtual ‘long jump event’ activity. At home, students can simply measure how far they jump (with a measuring tape) and record these results. In groups of six students will create a bar graph with metres jumped (m) on the vertical axis and names of students on the horizontal axis.
For further extension the teacher can ask the following questions in relation to the data collected:
- Who jumped 0.6m less than (insert students name)?
- Who jumped 0.4m more than (insert students name)?
- Who had the shortest jump?
