Task 1. Option 2
Problem: A collapse of the population of bees due to either climate change, insecticides or an insect apocalypse. Bees are pollinators and are essential to our global ecosystems: its productivity and stability. Without them our production of plant and food sources would diminish.
Solution: A team of 4 mechanical engineer students in Adelaide have designed and produced a small aerial vehicle which can transfer pollen from one flower to another. A pollination drone to help out if we face a bee shortage.
I think this is interesting because even though nature and how it works is so amazing things can go wrong. I never thought someone was out there already thinking of a replacement for bees if one day they were needed. Truly fascinating!
