Task 7: Option 2: Describe a classroom activity that incorporates a visual programming environment (it can be any included in this module or another environment that you come across).
In preparation for a buddy session with a younger grade. Show a year 5 or 6 class Rosie’s Walk, and explain that they are going to create a similar story in Scratch for their junior buddies. Discuss elements – places around the farm etc. Students use Scratch to create a similar story. They can then use flashcards to remember important plot points they wanted to share.
When the junior buddies arrive, share the Rosie’s Walk story together. Then, students break into their buddy pairs and on IPad show and read their story to their buddy.
Future learning activities – Have the younger and older buddy pairs work together to create a story in Scratch to share with the class.
