Task 6, Option 2

This activity is a form of a game of trust which develops the idea of a sequence of instructions with a repeat feature as well. It shows students the importance of being absolutely precise in their instructions. Students work together to create a written sequence of precise instructions for another student to carry out in the playground. Safe obstacles (eg cones) can be used to mark out the course. A loop needs to be integrated into the course. Each pair can try out the effectiveness of their instructions by taking turns to be blindfolded and completing the course, refining their instructions as they go. When a student is completing the loop section, they can be timed to see whether they improve their speed with practise. Once each pair is happy with their instructions, pairs are switched so that each student has a chance to try one or two unfamiliar courses.
