There are two very useful websites that students can use in Stage 3 to compare and analyse data.
One website is the Australian Bureau of Statistics, https://www.abs.gov.au/
Here students could get information for their local region. https://itt.abs.gov.au/itt/r.jsp?databyregion#/ They are able to get information about the median wage, population and the median age. They could then compare this information to another region, for example Moree compared to Manly in Sydney, has a different in the median wage of over $20,000. Students could then do some research on the reasons for the differences. The ABS website also has some useful additional surveys they are conducting for COVID-19, https://www.abs.gov.au/COVID-19. Students could use this information to understand the economic impacts the shutdown has had on the economy.
The other website that teachers could use is the Bureau of Meteorology website. http://www.bom.gov.au/ There are some very useful information in the climate page http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/ that students could use to compare rainfall over a number of months/years or the difference in minimum and maximum temperatures over a given period.
