Task 3- representing data

In order for younger primary students to practice binary and understand that there are only two options I have attached this PDF. If you print pages 7 and 8 you can give them to the students and have them colour them in. Alternatively, instead of the students writing their names they could put in a their friends name or the name of their teacher. binary_decoder_key

I also found this great resource for students in year 6 which allows them to do some cutting and sorting as well. It asks students to write the binary base system to the power of 2 and then what that number means in a whole number and then has them using binary code to make numbers. Of course this would need to be used after explaining how to use binary code to create numbers. You can find the lesson plan at this website. https://curriculum.code.org/csp-18/unit1/5/
