Rebecca Joyce▸ Task 6: Algorithms & Programming

Design an activity that explores sequences of instructions. In the early years, this could be an activity that encourages children to develop skills in putting things into a logical sequence. In the older years this could be more complex and involve students playing a game or doing an activity. #cserTask6

A great activity that explores sequences of instructions would be getting students to follow a series of instructions on how to make a paper plane. Firstly, you would give the students a jumbled list of instructions, you would then get them to them to cut and sort the instructions and then get them to glue them into a logical sequence in the correct order. To encourage collaborative learning, I'd get students to exchange their instructions with their peers and then get them to follow those instructions to see if they can successfully make a paper plane. It's a fantastic unplugged activity to use when introducing algorithms. #cserTask6
