Option 2: Design an activity.
I absolutely loved the robot example within this module for students to give teacher explicit instructions to complete the task. In writing we do a lesson on making Fairy Bread. I am going to do the introduction lesson for this using the robot technique so students can visually see what their instructions achieve. I am then going to break them into pairs to have a go themselves but also write the steps down in order to have a written form of the algorithm. As an extension we could invite another class to come along and use our instructions to make the fairy bread.

I also found this website with a great beginner lesson on algorithms with paper aeroplanes- always a favourite with early years students. #task6cser
