As part of a stage 3 communications unit in science we used the flag system to decode written messages as the first part of the lesson and then the class visually present a message using the flag system at the front of the class. The students made flags and presented this in groups.

Resource idea – In the “Semaphore Flag Codes” worksheets, the student must decode the sentence to reveal an interesting fact by using the code sheet. Available at www.visuallearningforlife.com on the Visual Perceptual Skills Builder Level 2 CD.
