Melinda H▸ Task 6: Algorithms & Programming

In library lessons, a key skill to teach is how to locate information. Take locating information in a non fiction text for example, it provides a great opportunity to instruct using a sequence of steps. Eg. Locate contents page, scan contents for relevant topic, locate page number etc. With problems such as not finding information or needing additional or more specific information or even to clarify a term in a glossary – opportunities for if / else and repetition present themselves. It would be a great tie in activity to write an algorithm that solves the problem of retrieving information from a book. This could be done as a whole class collaboration task, small groups or independently. #cserTask6
