For a year one class, students were asked to draw a picture of their favourite fruit on a post it note and then as a whole class we created a pictograph. I created a digital pictograph using Easiteach and students via the touch screen then moved the appropriate fruit icon over by checking with the post it note pictograph . I have provided the url for a blog that gave me the initial idea. It also gave a teaching and learning opportunity for a measurement skill of not overlapping post it notes. During the digital pictograph creating, some students inadvertently enlarged the size of fruit which gave rise to discussions about how to interpret this and the importance of the fruit being the same size. 1st Grade Data & Graphing | Worksheets, Math and Teacher
