An algorithm example in early childhood would be to have the children working with a partner to give simple instructions on how to draw a 'secret' picture. One child would have a picture and describe to another what to draw. After checking their pictures they could investigate to see what extra instructions were needed, and if any instructions were not necessary. The task would involve the skill of decomposition as well as sequencing.
