This data set has been pulled from the Australian Bureau of Statistics and provides data on the ancestry of people living in the Bathurst Regional Council area during the census periods of 2016, 2011 and 2006. This data provides an opportunity to explore the diversity of our community over time which forms the basis of historical inquiry in Stage 2 History (Community and Remembrance). The spreadsheet can easily be manipulated to reduce the amount of data for analysis (ie top 10 only) or could be used in its entirety by assigning a specific background to each student. The comparison columns could also be removed and students could be taught how to create a formula to compare the different data sets. The possibilities for use are endless.
