Here is a great link to The History of Music Technology done in a timeline for easy viewing. There is also an option at the bottom of the screen to place these items into a list, which opens up a picture and more information.

This would be better suited to an older primary class.

The addition of any real life items, for a hands on experience, would add interest. (old records, cassette tapes, Walkmans, etc.) The students could try and place them in a timeline first and then see how many they guessed correctly.
