Amanda Hooper-Duffy▸ Task 2: Data- Patterns & Play

When I read this module, I really liked the example of sorting the lego blocks into colour and then showing the physical representation as towers in like a bar graph. I thought this was a good representation that you could easily see which colour was the most prominent and also something teachers could adapt in their own teaching. I believe this would be an excellent example to teach teachers in a PD session.

  • Trish Dower: Hi Amanda, I did a similar activity with my P-2 kids recently when sorting and classifying dinosaurs. The kids could choose the attributes for sorting e.g. colour, size, horns, dinosaurs that walk on 2 or 4 legs, those that fly etc. This was a great activity and I can now see more clearly the links to the digital technologies curriculum after having viewed the Lego sorting video.
