I have created this simple flow chart, with some visual prompts, to help new Prep students (who have not yet developed reading skills) remember their start of day procedure for unpacking school bags. Once the school year has started, I will work on creating this together with the students, taking photographs of them modelling each stage of the process, rather than using clipart pictures. I could envisage being able to have the students gradually develop more charts of their own, or sequence action cards that I have given them, to address other classroom activities and processes. This will help them become familiar flowchart conventions in an informal way.
