Question: Is it possible that in the foreseeable future, actual medical operations will be carried out within the patient's own home? – perhaps with a particular peripheral device – either using a surgeon's guidance, or maybe even, futuristically, with the computer's own knowledge?
In pursuing this question we could examine the likelihood of typical household technologies being able to be applied in this way. It seems fanciful now but with the speed with which developments are occurring, it may not be far off.
