Philippa Miller▸ Task 7: Visual Programming

Task 7 In the NSW syllabus for the Australian curriculum Science and Technology K-6 the Earth and Space outcome STe-6ES- S is identifies how daily and seasonal changes in the environment affect humans and other living things. I would link this to digital technologies through the outcome ST1-3DP-T which is describes, follows and represents algorithms to solve problems. Using Scratch Jnr I would ask the students to have a sprite walk through different seasons. The children could annotate the sprite with text that describes how the season affect humans or other living things. e.g. Cat could say in winter my coat gets thicker to keep me warm.
