This TED Talk raised a few eyebrows in my Yr9 Digital Literacy class last year. Students were able to relate many of their own experiences from clicking on suggested videos in YouTube. Using ideas from the talk, the class then began formulating ways in which the selection, omission and presentation of information online can be used to persuade. I used this as a hook preceding a lesson about fake news and online scams.We’re building a dystopia just to make people click on ads
