Georgia Salter▸ Task 7: Visual Programming

Students I have taught thoroughly enjoy using the Lego WeDo 2.0 Robots. These Robotics kits are accompanied by a downloadable app which show instructions to build a given robot (following a procedural text) and then use a visual programming environment to direct the robots in a way that they choose (students are creating an algorithm for their robot when doing this). The app has projects that children can follow with instructions for building both the robot and the algorithm, but too can be used as a student led investigation, where they are driven by inquiry. I have attached a link to a video of a helicopter one of our Grade 2 boys built and coded independently, to give you an idea of how the program operates – (unfortunately I didn't capture his coding). #cserTask7Instagram post by Miss Salter • Sep 15, 2017 at 7:02am UTC
