A book I use with the Prep class to develop the idea of a sequence and repetition in a story is Bertie and the Bear by Pamela Allen.  This is an engaging book for students as the language is repetitive with only the character and the sound they make changing each time.  After reading and sharing with the students I have pictures of the characters and we sequence in the order that they chase each other.  I then use this structure to innovate on the text to create our own story.  Some of the ideas we have come up with are Prep and the Dinosaur – which tells the story of a dinosaur chasing Prep and the people who come to chase the Dinosaur away.  Although I was using this as an English activity it is also can be adapted to develop understanding for this topic.  #cserTask6
