Potato Olympics –
In this unit students are all asked to bring a potato from home of differing sizes and proportions. They then use these potatoes in a series of “events” for collecting data and calculating information including: mass, speed, displacement etc. Students then analyses the data collected including range, mode, median and mean then determine how the potatoes have performed in each event. The data collected can then be represented as a bar graph, pie chart or histogram using excel or another type of data representation software.
