A concept using a sequence of steps that I enjoyed teaching a couple of years ago with Year 1's was Direction.
We used Bee-bots to get the students to "program" a route on the device, checking to see if the Bee-bot got to the right point they had programmed.
The students were placed into groups, and given a mat and Bee-bot per group. We then called out a place for the Bee-bot to go to on the mat. They had to work out the route, program their Bee-bot and see of the instructions they had given were correct.
They enjoyed it and there was lots of competition to see who could get their Bee-bot to the correct point first.
We also designed and developed a range of mats for the devices. We also had students developing their own Bee-bot mats.
