Chris Gray▸ F-6 Digital Technologies MOOC

I do not have a class but being part of a school that does some level of recycling, particularly in regards to paper waste, I see this as an area that we could use data collection and analysis to better engage the students. Whether a class or year level is the data collector, students would develop an appropriate way to measure the paper collected and keep track of this. This could become a class 'competition' which sees data presented at assemblies or visually around the school. Students might also track the inclusion of inappropriate waste which is put into the recycle bins and highlight the progress, or not, of reducing non-recyclables in recycling bins. The data could show those classes which are most effective and allow for conversation on how other classes can do things more effectively. The list goes on as to how the data could be used and it brings the whole school into the gathering and using data. #cserTask2
